This is a media trip made possible by Canon and Tourism Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is often associated with food and shopping, but for me this special country reminds me of…
1) TVB dramas
Growing up watching Cantonese dramas, TVB stars like Dao Da Yu, Luo Jia Yang etc have set my heart racing as a pubescent teenager.
With the SX 230 HS high ISO speeds, it eliminates camera shake and ensure sharp images. That, i can snap a picture while hopping into the iconic Hong Kong cab without holding up traffic. |
Most of the dramas center around justice, medicine or family. On-screen translates to reality. Hong Kong is one of the safest places for travellers. Low incidence of pickpockets, it is safe to walk alone at wee hours. On-screen translates to reality… stepping into Hong Kong is like stepping into a movie set.
From a popular TVB police drama. |
On the streets of Mong Kok. |
Captured real time. |
TVB drama. Me in real time, Causeway Bay. Capture exciting images anywhere in the world with SX 230 HS. |
Even our media facilitator Michael has a striking resemblance to Donnie Yen (who costs SGD 5 mil per movie)!
For the next 4 days, I lived like a celebrity, with the gracious fawning by my generous host, Hong Kong Tourism Board.
2) Nostalgia
Modern as Hong Kong is with an efficient public transport system that takes you around 260 islands, I love how in the day the city evokes nostalgia but when sun sets, it portrays a contemporary look with the skyscrapers and lights.
How appropriate that the SX 230HS has a Nostalgic mode, giving the photos an "old fashioned" look using five different levels of saturation on the spot! |
3) Kung Fu
With kung fu being compulsory for Hong Kong Airlines cabin crew to master, how can one not strike some kung fu moves with a backdrop as authentic as the Giant Buddha? It may not be the Shao Lin, but it’s close enough to strike some chops!
To get to the Giant Buddha, you will need to take the Ngong Ping Cable Car.
With the Quick Shot function, Power Shots capture these amazing jumping pictures at the first try! We didn't need to jump twice. |
