Luxury, do you know how it sounds?

Advertorial

If you had a thousand dollars, what would you spend it on?
Would it be the Golden Opulence Sundae that is a scoop of Ecaudoran (simi lai eh) chocolate, along with in-season exotic fruits (durian?), imported chocolate truffles (hope not imported from China), various micro-mints and an orchid made from sugar.

It is then topped with a flower made of white chocolate that is painted and dusted in gold dust. There is also a real gold leaf that has been pounded so thin that it’s edible.

Very value-for-money to the typical Singaporean, the Golden Opulence Sundae comes with a gold spoon that you get to take home as a souvenir.

But Yau Gui(s) to take note that if there is more than one person eating the sundae, you may have extra gold spoons but you only get to keep one (possibly a metal detector at the exit).

Serendipity sells about a dozen a year for wedding proposals, anniversaries and by men trying to impress their women.

Available at Las Vegas in front of Caesar’s Palace.

Or, for $1000 you can have New York’s breakfast staple, a bagel. Topped with white truffle cream cheese and goji berry (simi?) infused Riesling jelly with golden leaves. Truffles are said to be an aphrodisiac because their aroma is similar to that of pheromones, which are irresistible to some mammals (the excited dog who greets you at the door is not really because of you).

No longer available, it was created for a social cause.

If you’re not into the $1000 bagel and sundae that adds inches to your waist, you can consider the “I am Rich” iPhone app.

6 from the USA, 1 from Germany and 1 from France have downloaded this iPhone app for $999.99 that does nothing but display a red ruby as an icon on your screen. A status symbol, like it wouldn’t get lost in the average of 30 apps in a person’s phone.

The developer claims that he’s “got emails from customers telling me that they really love the app.” Adding that they had “no trouble spending the money.”

2 have asked for a refund and Apple has since removed it from the App store.

If I had $1000 to splurge ($1539 to be exact), I’d put my money on the AKG K3003.

Crafted in Vienna from the finest materials like brushed stainless steel, high finish level of leather cover, hypoallergenic ear sleeve and chrome-plated connectors on gold.

Weighing only 10 grams, these luxurious materials aren’t as redundant as gold flakes on a sundae or beagle but they all contribute to durability, safety and performance.

The sound of luxury is about being able to experience music wherever yet similar to being centre stage at a live concert. The Vienna makers will surely understand that, coming from a country that is famous for operas.

The world’s smallest, true three way earphones with each piece hand made, they are exclusively sold at STEREO in Plaza Singapura and Ion.

I’m sure Mozart would approve too.
