21 Days After

Drunk, drunk, not drunk, not drunk, not drunk. Hahaha, Mambo night turned out to be R&B. Its like a mini Singapore inside club Metro. Oh well, organised by Singaporeans anyway. Singapore is small? So is Perth. I've met my secondary school friend in Zion Praise Harvest Church, met my poly mates here and there. Met some dude who knows me from Ms Singapore International and met some other dude who SAW ME ON MY QUANTAS FLIGHT HERE! Talk about photographic memory. But they were all just fluff greetings from me. Hi-and-bye..

See, they hung the Singapore flag. You would think its celebrating national day overseas.

Mr. Heart Stopper and Breath Taker. Hahahaa...they're freaks you see. Desmond's also from Faith Community Church, and Jeremy's dad, when he came..we just brought him to do all the youngster's stuff. Hahaha..they both can cook very well, or so i heard. But i haven't got the luck to try it yet. They're vege lovers though...they do not cook vegetables AT ALL. Because they LOVE veges, so they can't bear to cook it.

The rare few times i eat out, this Korean restuarant is not bad. We had piping hot steamboat. Will bring mummy and ivan to eat there. But the service sucks! The place i work at is x20 more efficient.

The sky is beautiful isn't it? The boyfriend's school, was there for his first solo flight out. I brought him to Zion Praise Harvest yesterday. He prefers the worship there but prefer the sermon at Faith Community Church. So dilema, which to go next Sunday? But the boyfriend's memory is very good..he can remember every word, every message each time. And he will QUOTE them back to me!! Like a tape recorder...hahaa

The man starting on his checks. My heart soared when he took off. But let's leave his story about taking off for another time. Up, up, up and away...

Waitressing 101

Sara is such a darling...the first parcel i've received so far from Singapore...One of the contestants i met during Miss Singapore International. Such competitions, i always find it fluffy and fake. The people..thus i never chose to mingle. Amazingly, always always at last moment, i get to make amazingly true girl friends. Shyanne, from Ralph Lauren, and Sara, the new addition. Hope she comes in 2 weeks time ;p

Hmm..the weather is getting sunnier and hotter, winter's almost over! I can't wait to get to the beach. My friends say i'm crazy tho..its still too cold.

And of course, i got to thank Bin Bin kor kor for sending me my notes. So thoughtful, makes me miss home alot. Where i have alot of people who love me.

I'm getting addicted to working. Well, partly its because of the cash (but again, its not because i'm money face nor materialistic), but also because i get to learn new things. Getting abit sick of the food they provide me though, its always MEAT!! (roast duck, roast chicken, roast pork..Shaun will be very happy.) I work 3 hours, 3 days a week. That's not too time consuming, the boyfriend sends me to and fro. What a darling!

Enlightenment:
1) Westerners sometimes prefer to use chop sticks to show off abit
2) Asians never leaves unfinished food
3) Westerners hate chrysantanem, and you cannot trick them
4) Asians are messy eaters
5) Westerners do not like to sit facing the door
6) And generally, they're all very appreciative of you serving

Tonight is Mambo night, some singaporean thing. And my friend gots us tickets...photos soon :P

One month Anniversary

Tommorrow,17 Aug 2006, officially marks my independance in Perth. Its short, but it seemed so long. So much has happened, and my budgeting is still in the red mark. Still in the red mark, because you realise you have to start from scratch. Everything..from toilet rolls to cooking oil to spices to indulgences.

I'm starting to love Perth, but i still prefer Singapore. Its routine here, Tuesdays are waffles night, Sundays are Freo market, super market shopping is our favourite 'hang-out' place, Harbourtown is another favourite. We can spend half an hour gazing outside a pet shop, Oriental food marts continue to amaze us with their variety. I can't wait for more things to come...my friends want to take me to Mandurah, Margaret River etc. They have plans for my birthday! Hip hip hooray.

Mummy and Ivan are coming soon, i can't wait. Apparantly, the boyfriend has plans...hahaa..oh well, we'll see.

University is tough.

Ng can cook

Disclaimer: Christine is NOT having too much fun because school really hasn't started yet.

The school has a chill out tavern where 'crazy nights' sometimes happen on thursday. The first one we went was labeled Pink. I should have dressed like Pink, and maybe win something. But all the caucasians are the sporting ones. These are the more funky and outrageous ones we got, us camera whores. The extreme right hand corner, can you guess what they are? You realise the good looking caucasians wont be dressing up, instead will just stand one corner and look cool. Whereas the not so good looking ones are crazier and well, more fun to be with. Caucasians, however, do not know how to behave when they drink abit too much. They get very rowdy. Good thing though, such parties that happen on school ground...everyone goes home at midnight. And thus i am Cinderella...

P.S They are supposed to be lamp shades. Creative, isnt' it?

Pet shop window shopping. Hamsters are illegal. Have i ever told you before that i wanted a dog so badly but my mummy wont let so i got a hamster leash to walk my hamster like a dog? Now, that's a long sentence said in one breath. Sophia intends to move out, she, me and Alastaire are itching to get a puppy. AUD $350.

The boyfriend whips up a very good kebab. Initially, i wasnt so keen on kebab coz i'm not a kebab person. And also coz i just had quite sucky microwaved prata so i thought it would be similar. But his kebab....gosh....fills me up in one go and had me craving for more. Enough said.

Friends i've made and spent alot of time with, and saved alot of memories. Besides my secondary school days, this period is going to be the best time of my life too. And so i must thank my dad for giving me such an opportunity. Sophia's mum is in one of those pictures. We bring her out alot on our outings too...hahaaa...see we youngsters love the elderly.

Another day out with Sophia's mum and we brought her to Fremantle for a feast! It really was a feast! Cod fish, seafood platter, sardines .... i miss fish though. You don't get it that easily here, you would think its abundant because of the harbour. But noooo, its not cheap either. So whenever i eat out, i will choose fish for my set. Coz i miss fish. We stepped into Fremantle fruit and vegetables market at 4.55pm (it closes at 5pm), it became like a stock market. Quite exciting, everyone is shouting and it becomes very 'atmospheric'. The sellers start selling very cheap and i bagged a whole lot of strawberries for only $4. But they grow mouldy very fast though, i realise. So now i know, eveyr Sunday is Fremantle day. I'd like to take mum there. I've already in mind a list of places to go when she's here. I haven't been to some of the places myself. Namely the Fremantle prison, Wildlife park. Shall wait for her to come then go, so she wont be bored.

At Fremantle, you see the signs "Please do not feed the seagulls. Or they will S.O.Y"

S.O.Y = Shit On You

Actually, its not that difficult to cook. Chop some garlic, throw in a bit of hua tiao jui, mix this mix that, stir fry and voila...a good dish. All you need is creativity.

I feel guilty, i have been having too much fun. Like tourist, i joke with my friends. But now its serious work, i've assignments piling up. University is tough work man.

I'm also guilty of spending too much at the supermarkets. Every 3 days or so, i'm there. Its like our faviourite place now and i feel like a housewive. We call each other and go "What's for dinner tonight?" And i end up buying alot of unnecessary stuff. I have a budget per month, but i'm overspending it. Rent takes away alot of it, so now i'm writing a grocery list and i'm going to control my spending. And my naggy friends who goes supermarket with me, they help to ask if chocolate biscuits are necessary, they remind me i have shit loads of toilet paper at home and the mortifs are not that cute, and the discounts will come back again.

and gosh, the ceiling light just went poof on me! No more light, how am i going to do work tonight?! and i was all geared. Tomorrow, got to get them to change my bulb and heater. Speaking of which, they oiled my creaking door. Rather efficient, they are. But they have my room key, that's how they did it, when i'm not home. Nothing was missing tho.

I think its not fated for me to talk to my mum. I miss her, i miss her voice. But twice, thrice i called..i couldn't get her. Then well, her mobile is not free incoming, so i didn't call that.

Where next?

The GPRS in one of my friend's Porche. "At the next junction, turn left."

So far, i've been driven around in the cheapest ($700) to the most expensive (the above). So long as it gets me there, even with my own legs, i'm fine. The public transport here is alright, irritating thing is the last bus is usually very early. Like 7pm. But of course, by 7pm, you shouldnt be out alone and taking the bus. The stark difference between the cheapest and the most expensive ride, however, is that the safety of the car. The $700 drives fine, but when you sit it..you just worry a little bit, because the frame work is abit shaky, and the fuel gauge meter is spoilt. Hahaaa....

Maggie Mee, I had none since i got here. Mummy should be proud of me. I keep cooking asian food tho, perhaps i don't like frying stuff coz it gets oily and i'm lazy to clean. So most of the time, i make soup based dishes.

I get so estatic when i visited the oriental food mart yesterday? They got toufu, FISH BALLS, CRAB Meat sticks!!! I exclaim at everything and my friends say i ma cham sua ku.

The lectures here is pretty different from my days in poly. Its interactive, but i got to confess. Half the time, i don't know what the lecturer is talking about. TOo chim...and i'm lost, and their accent! I got to start reading my text books. Everyone thinks i'm very smart in photocopying in Singapore and bringing over. They say i'm very serious about this, hahhaaa. Sophia's mum was very impressed.

Photocopying here is crazy. It's 10 cents PER PEICE!! I dread when its the time to print assignments...coz so far, i dunoe where to print them, and of course, you got to pay for your printing. A printer costs $49 here, so i've friends suggesting that we buy our own and share etc. We'll see.

I went with the Indian friend i met in Singapore tru a business aqquaintance to church last Sunday. Its called Zion Praise Harvest church, i found out that in Australia, there isn't exactly denominations here. Its very different from Faith Community Church that Wei Xiang brought me. Priase Harvest is more youthful and colourful, Faith Community is well..pretty much like ours.

So i havent decided for my 3rd sunday, which one i should go. Faith is near my home, and got familiar face like Alvin. Yet Zion, i get more presence there. Comfort zone or step out of it? But at both places though, during worship, i keep tearing. I don't know if i'm touched or i simply miss home.

An aqquaintance commented though, that i've probably done MORE than he had during his 5 years here in Perth. Because over the weekend, i've played golf, tennis, badminton and jogged. Hahahaa...quite funny. Well, its good that i've got good friends and this one guy is sporty and has friends around so i tag along for his sports. He brought golf shoes, sports shoes, and a whole range of shoes. For different activities, he calls it. We were like..you come to study or what! Hahaa..

We've also been to the Burswood casino. I simply observed the human behaviour. I don't understand why people must grab the card so hard and bend it so spoilt then flip over. To increase the excitement of revealing the number? I call it simply wishful thinking that the number will change.

I'm getting more or less used to the cold now, and i don't get hungry that often. I actually don't sleep that much, although Wei Xiang seems to hibernate in the winter. Hahaa.

oh yes! i remember..i miss Bee bee tooo..the red thin prawn cracker.

Maybe my new found friends are regretting knowing me..hahaaa..i make them do silly things

Take Two: I LOVE U
